Maui Biking Spotlight

The highlight of biking on Maui is riding down the Haleakala Volcano.  You have several tour operators to choose from.   You also have several tour types.  There is the bike down the volcano at sunrise. This ride isn't for those that like to sleep in.  The tour companies usually pick you up at your hotels starting at 2 am.  You eat breakfast at sunrise on the volcano summit, and after watching sunrise, you proceed down the mountain.  Total tour time from pick up to drop off is 8-9 hrs.  

The other Maui "bike the volcano" tour for those that aren't awake at 2 am normally, is the 7 am trip.  

Either trip is awesome.  You are supplied with beach cruiser type bikes, a tour guide, and gear.  Occasionally it rains at the summit and most operators provide rain gear when necessary.  

This ride is fun, but if you want to remain unscathed on you trip to Maui, make you know how to ride a bike.  Any flat land wobblers will definitely be at risk on the way down.
